The quiet lanes of Provence

Hello little blog. Just a short post. Checking-in, as it were.

I'm enjoying a relaxing yet very full stay in Provence, enjoying the quiet higgledy-piggledy lanes and squares of old towns, palm-fronted promenades, some amazing exhibitions and a lot of really good food.

Luggy the LGBT Crab and Lizzy the Lesbian Lobster on the beach at Cannes.

It's good to be away from noise and the news so I really have no idea what the Orange Toddler may be raving about right now.

The aim. Get off the closed world of the phone. Sculpture in the harbour at Antibes

A few early photos ...

My hotel is just off the main square in Antibes and yet is totally quiet at night. Comfy spacious room with typical provençal décor.

Shoes and designer bags ...all made of chocolate

Jodie Foster was here, Cannes film festival. Lizzy the Lesbian Lobster approved monument.

But this is not a holiday blog so, once home, I will be writing in detail about the stunning International Perfume Museum, which is a must-see (and smell), the Sacred Feminine exhibition, and some other items of trans/LGBT interest.

  1. Sue, this sounds absolutely blissful, quiet lanes, good food, perfume and palm-lined promenades feels like the perfect escape. Antibes and Grasse always seem to have that mix of elegance and ease.

I love the idea of getting off the closed world of the phone for a while. And Luggy and Lizzy on the beach made me smile.

I’m very much looking forward to hearing more about the International Perfume Museum and the Sacred Feminine exhibition when you’re home. Enjoy every peaceful, fragrant moment.

    1. Thanks, Lotte, I'm back and it was a good little break. I think my pet crustaceans enjoyed it, too! More detail in due course. Sue xx

  3. What a lovely hotel room. V much not your usual Premier Inn vibe.
The only thing missing from that chocolatier shop window is a teapot. Although perhaps the saying doesn't translate.

    1. Thanks, Susie. It's good to travel in low season as you can get some lovely hotel rooms at minimal prices.

I'll have to look up if the French perhaps say "inutile comme une cafétière en chocolat" as an alternative. Although the resultant mocha mightn't be so terrible.

  4. Oh you escaped from the festival trouble dear Sue. Nice pics. Hope you have a relaxing time there. Never been to the Provence. And it must have been a very intens adventure to have so much fragrances in your nose. Thanks again for your so kind visit to my little blog.
    Have a good time

    1. Thanks, Violetta.

Yes, the festival makes life impossible here so it's best to go away.

I have hay fever so I couldn't smell as much as I wanted at the perfume museum! I'll write about it next Friday.
