Happy Hallowe'en!
| Cutesy |
This year I really really wanted to recreate the look I had at the Magic Theatre's 2011 Hallowe'en Ball at the Rivoli Ballroom in London. Then I wore a Hell Bunny goth ballgown, elbow length gloves and tights both with a cobweb motif, high heeled sandals and my usual hair.

Now I've got the same dress and accessories, plus a cobweb conical hat and patent stiletto ankle boots. Plus my smiley wooden spoon that is my magic wand for positive feminine vibes in a world of wicked wizards.
| Nonchalant |
I mixed and matched wigs, though. I can't decide if I prefer the long silver and black hair (top), the plain long black hair (above), or the long red and black hair (below). The one thing I know is that my witchy hair has to be long! I mainly wore the red and black one as it's from a proper wigmaker rather than being a 'joke shop' wig like the other two.

To think I haven't worn this dress for fifteen years! It is unbelievably lovely to wear, soft yet quite heavy - you really know you're wearing it. It has a bustier top to which the mesh and satin ribbon overlay is attached and a black satin lining underneath. The shoulders are just mesh but I found a perfect silver and black lace padded bra to go under it. What it could really do with, though, is a petticoat to puff the skirts out and I will try that at Christmas. I don't really associate petticoats with witches but you may disagree. After all, witches are pretty freelance and can dress how they please.
I'm normally a modern kind of girl: tees and sweaters with leggings or jeans, like other women wear these days and I like to blend in. But I have to say that my recent outdoor forays in dresses and skirts have reminded me of just how nice a more obviously feminine look can be, even if you stand out a bit. The magic of femininity.
I love my new black patent leather ankle boots. Maybe they're less like traditional witchwear but, hey, I make my own rules (see above). Must find an excuse to wear these boots out on the street one day. The spider web theme just came about because I happened to find similar gloves and tights with that theme.
I don't have a black cat, but I do have a black dragon, Spike. Like most dragons, he is very magical and, fittingly, loves to have drag on. But of course.
For extra magic, I'm also wearing my Tinkerbelle necklace that may not have made an appearance since my Pink Punters days.
So from me, Spike the magic dragon, Tinkerbelle and my happy wand, here are lots of magical wishes for a fun and feminine hallowe'en, whatever you are doing tonight.
Sue x
