Joy in picking clothes for the season

Blogger (run by Google) is going through one of its clunky phases and the blogrolls are not updating properly so I've no idea if readers will see that there's a new post here. So if you're reading this, thanks for making the effort drop by.

The problem seems to be improving little by little. Google and all its services also seem to be going rapidly to pot these days, like all the other online stuff that was once worthwhile has already done (I'm looking at you Facebook, Twitter, and more). As for Google's AI on their search engine, it is so atrocious it should be banned.

In the interests of Posiblogging™, though, let's talk about better stuff.

The weather where I am is wonderful. It's what the summer should have been - warm but not oppressive, sunny but not scalding, dry but not arid.

I'm packing a suitcase to travel to the British Isles for the next two weeks where the weather in September could be almost anything. So although light summer dresses and strappy sandals are lovely, there's something satisfying about getting ready for autumn with its need for more clothing. We TGirls rely on our clothing to emphasise who we are so, in some respects, more clothes = clearer feminine intent.

I'll be going to Scotland for several days and, actually, although I love the feel of hot sun on my bare skin, after this long summer I'm now also looking forward to changing into a longer skirt, a good pair of smart boots and a pretty sweater. I'll be glad to suffer a lot less perspiration, too.

Whether I get any shopping time in London as part of the same trip really depends on circumstances. I've lost a lot of property in a flood in June and dealing with the insurance has taken a lot of my time recently. But it also means I'll almost certainly go back to London again before the end of the year to finalise things. London in the run-up to Christmas has always been impressive with its lit-up shops, illuminations and huge Christmas trees.

So it's fun to plan my outdoor outfits for the coming seasons. Autumn colours and motifs, smart skirts and coats, robust footwear, warm soft hosiery... As I implied above, clothes are more significant as a trans woman than a cis woman and need more planning and preparation. In some ways that's a pest; in another, it's one of the joys of being trans.

Spring
Have a nice weekend, and thanks for making it through Blogger's broken update system.

  1. Good luck on your travels, Sue. The weather is certainly varied at the mo, but given you've lived here before, that's not news! 🙂

It seems a little warmer than usual, so maybe layers you can pop on and off?

Oh, and if you're interested, take a look at Enshitification - that's the IT term to describe what you're experiencing on the Big Tech platforms.

    1. Thanks, Lynn. I have my tried and tested UK Weather Survival Kit still to hand for all possible conditions in any one day! Also works in the Sahara, Himalayas, Marianas Trench and the Moon!

I almost referred to Enshittification, in fact, but I reckoned the concept had done the rounds by now. It's very true, though. Obviously, they are still making money from junk, but the tide has to turn one day. Market laws and all that.

  2. I like to dress in every season....but I hate to change the outfit twice a year from summer to winter and vice versa because I don´t have enough space in my appartement. I have some suitcases and a wardrobe in the cellar. So I have to change in October and March....And it´s October now....I have to do it, but I don´t like it.
    Nice outfits by the way

    1. Thanks, Violetta. The only reason why I like the colder months is because I can appear more feminine. It's always hard to live when the days are shorter and colder but winter clothes are nice to wear. Sue xx

  3. I love your seasonal styles. I especially like your Autumn look.
Ahh, Christmas in London. The bustling crowds, the wonderful window displays, the amazing lights. Did I say lights? Well this year the Oxford Street Christmas display is being curated by the world's most high profile, celebrity TERF. I won't name names, because she's pretty litigious. Perhaps we should refer to her as 'She who must never be named'. There's a certain irony in that. So perhaps give the Christmas lights in our capital, the swerve this year.

    1. Thanks you so much, Dee. The autumn skirt came out to play again recently.

Thanks for the info about the Oxford Street Xmas lights. The Regent Street ones are not so they might be all right. To be honest, though, the lights have never been the same since sponsors came along, like the infamous Tango ones.

  4. Sue, I do enjoy your thoughts on seasonal dressing. There's something lovely about planning outfits for autumn and winter, with cosy jumpers, skirts and boots. I can understand how the extra layers can bring their own feminine pleasures, quite apart from being more comfortable in cooler weather. Hope you have a lovely trip to the UK and Scotland, and manage to fit in a little shopping along the way! 😊
